MERCY WORKS (OUTREACH) - SHARING THE GOOD NEWS BY OUR DEEDS

This page is dedicated to a better understanding of the foundations of Christian outreach and to explore what your own calling might be.
For information on current activities at St. Luke's Church involved in
Mercy Works
you can visit our

Please bear with our construction mess as we continue to develop this exciting resource!

The Outreach Ministries of St. Luke's are guided by our tradition of the Christian Work of Mercy - both "corporal" (needs of the body) and "spiritual" (needs of the spirit or soul).

The Corporal works of Mercy at St. Lukes

We seek to live out our responsibilities to one another and to the world by performing the corporal works of mercy through these programs:
We seek to feed the hungry.
  • Power Packs
Saint Luke’s Outreach collaborates with G.F. Bowman and Yocum & Co. to provide healthy food for 70 families of Harding School Students every weekend. Under normal circumstances, Saint Luke’s takes a shipment of food each week, which our volunteers sort, bag and distribute  to the Harding School families from our Fellowship Hall every Thursday. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we volunteer our time and energy at a central distribution center in the Lebanon area. Read more about the Power Packs Project here.

We seek to give drink to the thirsty.
  • Free Noon Meal
St. Luke's Outreach collaborates with LCCM to address not only the physical thirst of those in need but also a thirst for fellowship and compassion. Once monthly, St. Luke's opens it doors to the community to join in a sit down, served luncheon where plenty of food and drink enhance the opportunity for table fellowship with those who struggle with many problems in life. IN this way we strive to respect the dignity of every person who walks through our doors.

We seek to shelter the homeless.

  • Fresh Start
St. Luke's Outreach collaborates with Lebanon County Christian Ministries (LCCM) in a project to shelter the homeless through the Fresh Start Program. We seek to answer the challenges of homelessness on multiple fronts…not only by sheltering people for a night, but also by providing career and personal counseling to help people pull themselves out of the poverty that leads to homelessness.  Fresh Start depends on local churches to provide sleeping space and volunteers to oversee the overnight shelter.

The Spiritual Works of mercy at St. Luke's

We seek to live out our responsibilities to one another and to the world by performing the corporal works of mercy through these programs:
