Learning about The Church
It has often been said: “Actions speak louder than words.” As we prepare to become more deeply committed to the mission and ministry of Jesus, we must take to heart the biblical command, "Be doers of the Word, and not hearers only." By preparing ourselves to fulfill Jesus central teaching "to love one another" we prepare ourselves to live out the baptismal promises to seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving our neighbor as ourselves; and, to strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being.
As Disciples, We Pray
Each time we meet, we open our session with prayer.
Each time we meet, we open our session with prayer.

There is an African proverb that says: “When you pray, move your feet.” While there is immense value to listening and being still in prayer and seasons when waiting is what is being asked of us; as this proverb infers, prayer also involves response and action. It is much like love. the song below brings the point home.

Just what is "The Episcopal Church". This short video introduces that part of the Body of Christ we call The Episcopal Church

The church as a human society of disciples has organized itself using available models from the very beginning. we can see the most radical of "communitarian" organization in the Acts of the Apostles (see Acts 2).
Even when we began to split into various denominations, we used organizing models at hand to help us related to one another and keep a sense of "faith and order". This short video explains how we adopted some of the models available as our church was formed - at the time of the American Revolution. |
Through history, all institutions change and adapt. The Episcopal Church is no different. These videos give us a capsule history of our Church as we adapted to various challenges as we moved through history.

The values of the gospel must inform our lives and the decisions we make every day. This includes not only how they impact on our daily activities but also on the larger issues of our day. In the three videos that follow, we explore three key issues confronting us today: racial justice, our stewardship of God's creation (the environment), and the care of the poor (social poverty).
