Whether it is when we survey the vast expanse of interstellar space or we begin a journey deep within ourselves, we often confront questions about the ultimate meaning of our lives. This experience is the beginning of God's call for us to explore and to discover what God offers us in a life of faith in Jesus Christ. Here we find a safe place to ask serious questions about ourselves, our place in the world, and just how faith in Christ can help us make sense of it all. For those who are just beginning this journey or who are seeking a new way of thinking about faith, the opportunities and tools available in Discover can empower and enable new beginnings. Discover focuses on three key moments in the Journey in Faith.

For Seekers

Many people have lost their sense of purpose in life, or perhaps never took the time to develop one in the first place. Once someone realizes that they need to find answers to the pivotal questions involved, they may not know where to turn to find answers. St. Luke's offers such seekers opportunities to discover just how answers to such questions can change their lives!

Preparing for
Baptism

Since the beginning of Christianity, the rites of Baptism have been an essential element of discipleship. Baptism marks a turning - a change of attitude - or the beginning of a new way of thinking for the individual believer.
Infants, young children, and adults can experience the life-giving sacrament of new life in Christ. St. Luke's offers opportunities for parents and godparents of infants and young children to prepare themselves for the responsibilities they undertake in presenting their children for Holy Baptism.  The parish also prepares adults who have never been baptized for an adult commitment to faith in Jesus Christ.

For more information on these opportunities, explore the Preparing for Baptism section here.

Preparing for Confirmation

In ancient times, individuals were brought into the church community by the bishop. As the church grew and grew, it was no longer possible for the bishop to be involved in the baptism of every individual. To mark the special relationship between the bishop and the individual believer, the rites of confirmation were celebrated apart from the individual's baptism.
Anyone who has been baptized but was not confirmed by a bishop may want to take advantage of the opportunities offered by St. Luke's to affirm their baptismal faith. Some who were baptized and confirmed in another denomination may wish to be received as members of The Episcopal Church. Others who have not been active in the life of The Episcopal Church  for some time may wish to re-affirm their membership.
