Welcome to our Lenten Resources Page for Adults
"I invite you, therefore, in the name of the Church, to the
observance of a holy Lent, by self-examination and repentance;
by prayer, fasting, and self-denial; and by reading and
meditating on God’s holy Word. And, to make a right beginning
of repentance . . . "

from the Ash Wednesday Exhortation
Book of Common Prayer, p. 265
After St. Teresa of Avila, a spiritual giant and superior of a Carmelite monastery in Spain, participated in the sacrament of reconciliation, she would stand outside the confessional and wait for all the sisters in her convent to also finish their individual confessions. And as the sisters came out, she would greet each one, put her hands on their shoulders, look them in the eye and say, "Begin Again, Begin Again!" This sums up the core of our Lenten observance.  It is especially relevant in these days as we look for the end of our confinement and emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a perfect time to consider how we shall Begin Again in so many ways.
We all face  challenges as individuals and as a community of faith. The opportunity that Lent provides for us to take a step back, to read, to contemplate, to consider, and to pray will help fit us for the challenges that lie before us. To this end, at St. Luke's we will undertake our traditional Lenten disciplines with renewed vigor as we together seek to discover the great graces that God has in store for us.
Below you will find resources for our personal renewal and for our renewal as a faith community.
Take advantage of any or all of these opportunities.

WEDNESDAY SERIES – “If God be for us  . . .”
St. Paul teaches a valuable truth: “If God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). Though God’s grace is with us always, God requires to cooperate with the lovingkindness he shares.

Even though we cannot gather for our usual Lenten suppers and presentations, we can still take time to learn and to reflect on how we participate in God’s great work. This series of online presentations will focus on five aspects of the spiritual life that provide the foundation for our ability to Begin Again! Mark your calendars for each Wednesday in Lent from February 24th through March 24th at 7 PM to join us in our Virtual Auditorium ( ZOOM ).  (See topic details below)

Sign-up by submitting your e-mail address below. You will receive a confirmation email with the link to the ZOOM meeting. It is the same link every week, so save this one find it again on the parish website (www.stlukeslebanon.org).

  • February 24th - Self awareness.
Self Awareness is having a clear perception of your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotions. Self Awareness allows you to understand other people, how they perceive you, your attitude and your responses to them in the moment. It is how we become present to God.
  • March 3rd - Mindfulness.
Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you’re mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment and awakening to experience.
  • March 10th - Self care.
Self care is unique for each person and can be understood in many different ways. In its simplest form, the term refers to our ability as human beings to function effectively in the world while meeting the multiple challenges of daily life with a sense of energy, vitality, and confidence. Self care is initiated and maintained by us as individuals — it requires our active engagement.
  • March 17th - Positive relationships in community.
Positive Relationships are the people who support and care for us — and we care for them. One of the most profound experiences we can have in our lives is the connection we have with other human beings. By building positive relationships with others, we will be happier and more fulfilled and feel more supported, supportive, and connected. Positive and supportive relationships will help us to feel healthier, happier, and more satisfied with our lives.
  • March 24th - Mission.
Mission is a recognition that we belong to and serve something bigger than ourselves. Our mission helps to shape the mindset and attitude we have toward others and the events we experience.
